Approach To Therapy
Dr. Wolfson describes her approach as follows:
I am a seasoned psychotherapist who has been working with individuals, families and groups of all ages and backgrounds for over three decades. When you choose a therapist you are deciding to pay attention to the most important thing possible: the quality of your life and steps towards the future. For this, it is crucial to choose the right person. There is no substitute for experience in choosing a therapist and for, how you feel when you are sitting in the room sharing your self with that person.
Because each one of us is unique, there is no set formula for helping someone find solutions and achieve goals. The particular circumstance presented by each person, is what matters, and my careful and non-judgmental attention to what is being presented. The process is direct, supportive, and interactive. You are likely here because something is not fully working and you are wisely considering that an external grounded professional can help you sort this out. I am here to provide a safe comfortable atmosphere that allows for openness and focused exploration to help you identify alternatives to what you may have already considered. Listening carefully, I am present-centered, focused on the entire sensory experience of being with you, offering reflections and feedback to help formulate clear and attainable goals towards well- being and quality of life in whatever ways that is defined and experienced by you. While my advanced degrees are important qualifications, the uniqueness of every human being in his/her situation calls for an approach that best suits you. Attending to the entire picture of what is needed to enhance quality of life deserves a holistic, mind-body-spirit approach. I pay careful attention to these connections and in that respect, potentially a shortening the length of treatment. Clients who attend to their body in conjunction with the soul work of psychotherapy report impressive results.
As an experienced psychotherapist, I know that a successful therapy emanates from a relationship that is supportive and interactive, in which a safe environment has been established allowing full attention to who you are and what you would like moving forward. By staying attuned to your goals and purposes for being in psychotherapy the mind, body, and spirit, your entire integrated self, are nourished along with your relationships, and developed towards optimizing your future.
